CA Update, Surf is Pumping. by Nathaniel Harrington

Hey guys!

I always mean to post more especially when I'm away on a trip, but usually it ends up with me getting super busy and falling asleep while trying to just edit the photos. Thats definitely been the case this trip. After swimming 3-4 hours multiple times a day in massive surf its been my priority to to rest rather than post.

So CA has had amazing surf, some of the best conditions seen for a lowers surf comp, and novelty breaks have been going off. Its been a photographers paradise and I wanted to share a glimpse of whats been happening.

Woke up to a sunrise and offshores. The swell had dropped a little but it was still super fun and very clean.

Kevin Schuls put in some turns, airs, and barrels.

Speed skating through the barrel.

Breakfast at the Harbor House on a Sunday is a must, especially after such a rad session. The lifestyles just came naturally.

Shoots, it has been awesome! I'm over my head in photos and waiting to get back home before even looking at most of them. I have a few more days out here and I'm looking forward to every second of it.

Thanks for stopping in! And have a wonderful day.

Two weeks in Southern California. by Nathaniel Harrington

hola!

Well its June and that means that most serious u18 surfers will be in southern california this week for the Surfing America Championships. Stoked to say that I am here as well. Its a pretty fun time of the year to shoot at Lowers when all the kids are surfing their brains out.

I've been here for a couple days now shooting and have covered a bit of the Volcom TCT a couple lay days, and am now looking forward to the start of the nationals tomorrow. its going to be an exciting few days as some of the best up comers rip into North America's greatest wave.

Here's a glimpse of what I got so far.

Kolohe Anding putting on a clinic at Lowers, San Clemente, CA.

Griffin Colapinto blow tail at Lowers, San Clemente, CA.

Groms frothing on overhead sections.

Matt Passaquindici ripping into a section during the quarters for the Volcom TCT Champs. Check out that wall of water building up just waiting to get ripped into. Ah Lowers...

The groms watching Kolohe rip into a wave, dreams are born here.

Friendly gestures... classic lifestyles.

Kolohe and Griffin.

Chaunchoo tore into his heats during the Volcom TCT, bummer to see him put out in QF, still a great result earned by hard work.

Playing around in San Clemente.

Chauncey Robinson killing it with the panoramic. Thanks for the pic man.

Roof top views in-between surf comps.

Donuts are flowing pretty heavily, special thanks to Surfin Donuts for all the fuel.

Only one way to burn off some donuts and that's by surfing.

Matthew Glenn under the cliffs at State.

Tough to see at a first glance but Matthew Glenn is tucked into that barrel, he even sneaked the doggy door.

Chaun and his man turns.

Evan Brownell throwing it up in a punchy beach break. This North Florida surfer rips.

Speed ollies with Matthew Glenn.

Chauncey Robinson going sledding.

Water Spots and the boys.

Back to Lowers and sessions with the groms.

A small gallery from a fun evening session at Lowers.

Good to see Blake Spier here and shredding.

Chase Modelski with a big tail blow.

Its always fun here, and I'm really looking forward to this week. We have some solid swell in the forecast with the possibilities to really score. I'm hoping some serious work can get done starting at 5:30 am tomorrow.

Keep checking back for more updates as this trip unfolds.

thanks,

Sea Turtles and Portfolio-Vero Beach. by Nathaniel Harrington

Hi guys!

Hope you are all having a great weekend! I just wanted to share with everyone a new website to keep tract of if you are a Floridian Local. Portfolio-VeroBeach.com just launched and I have had the opportunity to become a blogger for them. My first post to officially launch the site is about a sea turtle that nested the other morning right out front of Mulligan's here in Vero Beach. I'm going to keep this post pretty short because I want you to click over to Portfolio and check out the new site and know that so many amazing things will be coming straight to your home from that site.

So here's my teaser for you...

For the rest of my images check out the new site!

Thank you for checking in!

Kurt Stevens, Lifestyles and Portraits by Nathaniel Harrington

In the past couple weeks I've been helping out local artist/musician Kurt Stevens put together some images for his big debut at the Carolina Country Music Festival. It kinda started with fishing and worked its way through. He brought me into his lifestyle and we created some social media. It was cool to see his passion for the water and lifestyle of Florida, his love for music, and ability to perform.

This South Florida local is about to hit it off but luckily I got the chance to snap some pics first.

Whats more fun, getting the bait or using it?

Kurt has been living the Florida fishing lifestyle since he was a kid and it shows. Music is a huge part of his life and I think fishing has been a major influencer to that.

loading a cast net.

Where there is bait there are snook.

Some indoor white backdrop photography so the crowds can see what they are about to get.

This was a fun part of our shoot. I don't shoot Studio much and Kurt isn't running a model career, so there's a bit of a learning curve for both of us. I'm happy with how it turned out.

... and it didn't take long to get back to the river.

just a guy and his boat.

We played this off to look like a sunset, but its a good 'ol Florida sunrise. Rain showers in the afternoon and evenings make it difficult to plan around. Thankfully Florida light is amazing at the break of dawn.

Whats not to smile about. Life is good.

I grabbed Kurts music video to give you all a better idea of who he is and his sounds.

This was fun. Thanks Kurt for the shoots and good luck in a couple weeks man! Knock them dead.

Sebatian Inlet with Tommy and Chase. by Nathaniel Harrington

Its already been a couple weeks since we had a decent day of surf, these summer lulls are setting in and its making my head hurt. On the other hand its been awesome to get out and fish, explore more of Florida while the ocean lays flat, which has really been the reason this blog post hasn't happened sooner.

In that, these shots are from a fun day spent at Sebastian Inlet with Tommy Coleman and Chase Modelski. Also there are a few good images of surf coach Michel Flores and and South African Rigard Smit.

It was another day of shooting from shore for me as my water housing is getting some leak repairs done. I guess when you use it as much as I do maintenance is required. :/

They surfed, we fished, we surfed some more soaking up every bit of swell we could before this long flat spell. Check it out.

Chase Modelski is a ripper! Hard to believe I haven't linked up with him sooner, but glad I have now.

South African Rigard Smit enjoying the tropical temps of our florida waters.

Regard.

Tommy taking care of close outs.

My daughter River hanging out with me on the beach. Its pretty rad to be able to bring her to work. She's styling some VonZipper's and a lot of SunBum!

Chase.

There's only one person I have ever seen rip tiny waves apart like Tommy Coleman, and that is his surf coach Michel Flores. This Brazilian knows how to get performance out of his surf boards in every condition.

Chase Modelski reminds me of Chauncey Robinson. I'm seeing a lot of similarities in the way these guys surf.

When your surf coach goes upside down. Michel Flores trying Brazilian aerials.

Tommy Coleman.

Afternoon Sessions in board shorts. Chase loving some spring time air.

Tommy's backhand snap is ridiculously dangerous.

And his fin release moves nail are sure to grab attention.

I haven't seen Blake Spier much lately, looks like he is always heading to cool places on planet earth, stoked to link up with him on this classic Sebastian Inlet first peak air revo.

Groms.

Since I was shooting from the beach I figured I may as well make a short edit. Tommy Coleman has his air revo's on lock making this easy.

That's all from one day. So much fun.

Thanks a lot for checking into my site, hope you enjoyed.

Panama with Brock Taylor. by Nathaniel Harrington

This spring I went on a trip with Brock Taylor and my wife Tatum. We headed down south to Panama where we enjoyed a blacksand beach, fish tacos, and some pumping surf.

I created an Adobe Slate to tell the story as well as adding a video edit from the help of Tatum.

Check it out here.

Enjoy and thank you for visiting my website.
