Barrels

Miami shows off, Barrels on Tap. by Nathaniel Harrington

Miami Beach_ South Beach _ natehphoto-8015.jpg

This was my first time shooting/swimming around at South Beach, Miami. I had kinda made it a rule of mine that I wasn’t going to go down there and get involved in all the hype… but Matthew Glenn took me down there on Wednesday to see if we could score a good surf session… As we peaked over the dunes entering the beach we knew what we were seeing was pure gold. A couple a-frames peaked up and riffled off sending matt and I into a full sprint back to the car to get geared up. Miami was firing.

Perfection in the South.

Perfection in the South.

A lot of the sequences I photographed look so similar that I have had to go back and forth in the album making sure I’m not using the same sequences over and over. I’m not, it was a machine on repeat all day.

I feel like if Miami could look like this just once a month it would turn the Miami South Beach culture into a major Surf Culture. World class waves at a million peoples finger tips.

You can see the water falling in the top left of the above which is from a surfer who just about paddled into both matt and I. We hollered him off but the sequence was wrecked a frame later by too much water in falling out of place. It happens.

Try try try till you die and you’ll score some perfection. Matt in a golden gift.

Loving how Dustin looks at the waves he’s surfing. I feel like he has a really good awareness in the water and in those kinda moments.

After a few hours of swimming I was cold and exhausted. Time to get a few from the shore I thought, so I joined the stadium standing and cheering as surfers got barreled up and down the beach. That crowd towards the end of the day was awesome to see. The stoke was real.

Unknown surfer probably got off work and rushed to the beach for a session, join the hype and live the moment, get views of a lifetime.

Had to get Matt one from shore for some scale. Seriously like 40 people were cheering as matt pumped a couple sections of this wave. It was so neat to be out there and a part of the vibes. Excellent form, Florida.

Quick trip to OBX by Nathaniel Harrington

It’s been a pretty wild year of finding all sorts of photo work outside of surfing and action sports. The work is of course awesome, it’s mostly fishing and boating or something like that so I cannot complain. However, it’s really taking me away from surf. Not the ocean, just the surf. I’ve been a little anxious waiting all winter for a real proper winter swell to hit but that just hasn’t happened this winter.

So, off to the outer banks.

Forecast kinda got sketchy for a second, but we went with our gut and the original Surfline forecast. We packed up and off we went.

It was kinda firing.

The wind forecast scared us a bit but Jason Hines was on it, utilizing at least five different forecasting sites he was a step ahead of it.

I think that’s going to do it for this post. I have a bunch of video and tons more photos so I’ll probably try to post another update.

until then, thanks for visiting my blog

A Collection to MN. by Nathaniel Harrington

Its not all that often that I get to send out a collection of my work to places like MN. But this last month I got the opportunity to do so!

Here is a cool collection of images I captured during travels and at home, from Vero Beach to Panama and Barbados.

Take a look.

These images are both captured in Vero Beach, Florida. Now sublimated onto Aluminum with a float mount they are ready to hang on a wall. The Aluminum Prints have a tendency to make the water look real, so gazing at these really puts you back in that moment.

The Top image is "Light Filter" and is a Limited Edition Print #2/25.

The Second image is "Touch Down" and is a Limited Edition Print #1/25 (#2 is currently hanging out as a 20x30 canvas in Vero Beach Yoga Barre

I'm particularly excited my client picked out this image. Shot in Panama and simply named "Panama Sunset". This was taken my first evening being there and its something I will never forget watching.

"Panama Sunset" is a Limited Edition Print #1/10. The other 9 may go quick so don't hesitate putting this on your wall.

Another look at the first two.

"Rock of Confidence" as a negative before being heat pressed onto the Aluminum. This image was taken in Barbados last fall.

My client is a stock trader, financial planner up in MN and he really liked the idea of putting this image into his office as a reminder of confidence and symbol of security, hence the name "Rock of Confidence"

It is now printed out as 40x60 on Aluminum and is a Limited Edition #1/10.

... and here they are.

If your living in as cold of a state as MN I'm sure it will be nice to look at your wall and feel the tropics in these images.

Sorry for the glare, the Aluminum prints are very glossy and reflective. I love that about them, makes the colors and details POP.

Its a lot of fun getting my work out to people for them to enjoy.

If you've seen anything here that interests you please email me at natehphoto@gmail.com and I'll get back to you ASAP.

With the holidays coming up its not a bad idea... :)

CA Update, Surf is Pumping. by Nathaniel Harrington

Hey guys!

I always mean to post more especially when I'm away on a trip, but usually it ends up with me getting super busy and falling asleep while trying to just edit the photos. Thats definitely been the case this trip. After swimming 3-4 hours multiple times a day in massive surf its been my priority to to rest rather than post.

So CA has had amazing surf, some of the best conditions seen for a lowers surf comp, and novelty breaks have been going off. Its been a photographers paradise and I wanted to share a glimpse of whats been happening.

Lower Trestles with Everyone

Victor Bernardo with a massive punt at Lowers.

Caroline Marks took home two more titles at this years USA Surfing Championships. She is now at 17 total world titles.

Strands with Kevin Schulz.

Woke up to a sunrise and offshores. The swell had dropped a little but it was still super fun and very clean.

Kevin Schuls put in some turns, airs, and barrels.

Speed skating through the barrel.

Breakfast at the Harbor House on a Sunday is a must, especially after such a rad session. The lifestyles just came naturally.

Shoots, it has been awesome! I'm over my head in photos and waiting to get back home before even looking at most of them. I have a few more days out here and I'm looking forward to every second of it.

Thanks for stopping in! And have a wonderful day.
