Morning

Color & Texture. by Nathaniel Harrington

I did a re-edit on a few photos from a very beautiful morning last summer in Newport Beach, California.

I think it was twice that the sun came out of the clouds just as it popped over the horizon?? I just remember it being a very cloudy summer... I'm stoked that I got it while it was good though, and in a place where no one else was! Super frothing.

So check these out. How about that Color and Texture? Pretty Groovy.

Reminds me of reptiles.. Lizards and Dragons!

yah? ....

Thanks for checking in!

Vero Beach Shorebreak, Part 3. by Nathaniel Harrington

I'm going to start this off again with a sunrise that I'll never forget. What a beautiful morning.

Here are the rest of the photos that I am going to post, for now, of last monday morning in Vero Beach, Florida. It is amazing what the right tides and off-shore winds will do to surf. I know I was impressed, hope you enjoy also!

I've spent most of my life watching beautiful sunsets, I guess it time to start watching the sunrise.

Close Up.

The two above images are pretty awesome views of a barrel. I obviously played with lighting on them, its fun to see something a bit different.

Peaks like this were going through all morning. 2ft A-frames up and down the beach.

Peaks like this were going through all morning. 2ft A-frames up and down the beach.

Above: There wasn't much wind but a little gust caught the lip of this wave just as it was throwing over, making this wave one of the most unique I have ever seen. It almost looks like its throwing backwards.

Timing is everything. The absolute calm before the break.

Again this is another all time favorite photo. I ran around the house showing everyone after I finished editing it. My wife even told me that this could potentially become wall art in our house, that's never happened before... Stoked! I love the color of the buildings reflecting off the water and of course the fanned out lip is pretty cool!

Glassy.

It was like that for hours... So much fun!

Thanks so much for checking in! Please do share if you like what you saw!

Shoots! In the water with a 40mm, Part One. by Nathaniel Harrington

Hello Friends!

It's been on my mind for a while now to start shooting in the water with my 40mm & 50mm lenses. This morning as I was loading my camera into the housing watching the surf come in I was struggling with wanting to put my 10mm on the camera knowing that it would produce me amazing shots, however, I forced myself to change that comfort lens to try something new. I have shot in the water with a 50mm a couple of times and its hard! major props to everyone that can shoot with that perspective well! So it's a little scary to be sitting there on the beach leaving your go-to lens in the bag thinking that the whole morning could be ruined with the frustrations of not getting the focus and angles right. I would hate to waste perfect conditions. But.... Well, I tried the 40mm, and I think I like it a lot. I feel it makes sense, especially in conditions like these. You judge.

I can easily start my day at 6am everyday to see a sunrise like this.

Conditions were... pretttttyyy good.

What do you think of these shots? I think the top is maybe one of my favorite shots of all time. The lip of the wave on the second is pretty amazing though also!

Solid 2-3ft Shorebreak, medium tides... And I love the Backwash that happens in these conditions in Vero Beach. Razor Back barrel.

Two fun shots.

What do you guys think of this wave? I'm trippin on the second... :D

I've seen hundreds of East Coast Barrel shots like this... and I never ever get tired of it! I'm just so thankful that I'm getting a few for myself. I love the look of East Coast barrels!!

I posted this one on Instagram earlier today and was getting a few comments on it. Its different for sure. This is what I was looking for this morning. A perspective that just can't be show with a wide-angle lens.

One second later and the housing is smashing my nose in as I get thrown by the wave. haha. So worth it, every time.

I feel some prints coming soon.. :) I know I am in need of some wall art and I am pretty sure I got it this morning. Days like these don't happen too often. All the elements came together on this one. I'll be posting more soon due to lack of time this evening. I can tell you this, I don't think I posted the best tonight, I will later this week.

Stoked!! Thanks a ton for checking in,

40 Degrees of Thankfulness! by Nathaniel Harrington

First, Happy Thanksgiving! I don't know about you but this is my favorite Holiday of the Year! Just the name gets me.. Thanksgiving! Awesome.

This morning I woke up here in St. Petersburg to a chilling 40 degrees at 6am. Grabbed my SPL WaterHousing, which I had to brush the dust off of..., grabbed my cup of tea and off to the beach!

I arrived as the sun came up to see a wonderful sight, waves. Barrels none the less! The wind has switched from the howling on-shore to the glassy-machine-barrel-making off-shore breeze. First thought that came to my head was, "I'm so Thankful!". God hooked it up this morning.

I shot a lot of images as I froze in the cold air, chest deep in the warm water. Every wave was an opportunity for me to get my head wet again warming it up just to be greeted by the chilly bast out the back end. Yes, it was freezing. I shot for two hours, attempting to fill my memory card as fast as possible so I could feel like I had accomplished my mission of finally getting barrels shots again.

Below is the outcome of a wonderful start to this thankful day. I hope you enjoy,

Again, Happy Thanksgiving!
